sunday vibes

Sometimes you just need a burger, good company, a little history and some fresh air to feel better.

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

This was a rough week for me and yesterday I just needed a break from everything. If you have watched the news at all this week or logged into FaceBook and Twitter at least once then you are aware of how ridiculous the presidential race has gotten. I wish we could hit the “re-set” button and start this entire process all over again. Without the hate and malice perpetrated by a certain candidate and without all of the mudslinging and constant lying. In the past week alone I have seen this election divide Americans and cause  irrevocable damage to relationships.

I’m not one who tends to talk about politics or anything very controversial, but I think that it’s time that we all speak up for what is right. And that’s love not hate. As Gandhi advised so many years ago, we have to “be the change that we wish to see in the world”. That means showing kindness to our neighbor, helping a friend in need, and turning away from the hate. By not participating in the things that we know are evil and divisive. So log off from social media, forget about the arguments you witnessed and/or participated in, get some fresh air, and reflect on what it means for you to spread love as an individual.

It is my prayer that you find peace and never give up hoping for a better day soon to come.

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Romans 12:9
